Mitsu-ken Breakfast Combo with Garlic Chicken, Bacon, and Eggs
If you want some ono or delicious breakfast, then you have to try Mitsu-ken’s. Be sure to go early because breakfast ends at 10:30AM. They have several choices of breakfast, but just be sure to choose one that comes with garlic chicken. Their garlic chicken is simply amazing. Oh, and their fried rice is also out of this world. We always get the breakfast combo when we order from here. It comes with eggs, 3 slices of bacon, 3 pieces of garlic chicken, and fried rice (it’s underneath the eggs and meat in the picture). The old location of Mitsu-ken was pretty horrible as their was barely parking, but now they’ve moved into a place with an actual lot. Enjoy.

Kalua Pig, Beef Stew, Macaroni Salad, Poke, and Chocolaty Chocolate Haupia
Not only is Yamas Fish Market my favorite place for Hawaiian food and seafood, but for dessert as well. When I stop at Yamas Fish Market, I always get a plate lunch, side order of poke, and of course, dessert. Their lot only has 4 stalls, so I usually go during non-busy hours to avoid the hassle. They have a wide variety of poke, but if you were only able to choose one, definitely go with the Ahi Wasabi Masago. I’m a big wasabi fan so, that definitely hits the spot for me. Also, if you’re going to get dessert, make sure you get one with haupia in it. As usual, I’ve listed the address below.

Meat Jun and Soondubu
If you want super inexpensive Korean food, then you definitely have to try Chodang’s. They have awesome meat jun and soondubu, but the best part is that it’s only around 5 to 7 dollars. And that also includes the side dishes! Also, the portions are too bad either. But wait, they has to be a catch right? Well, there isn’t, well, kind of. Chodang is known for its cheap eats and late hours, but the one thing they could work on is their service. The service isn’t too bad, but it could be better. But hey, from what I’m getting out of it, I can let that slide. So if you’re drunk and hungry, or if you’re in the area and want Korean food but don’t want to pay an arm and leg for it, then definitely check out Chodang’s.

Blue Hawaii and Mushroom Mushroom Burger
If you’re craving a burger, then check out the Honolulu Burger Company. Honestly, this was my first time checking out this burger joint. In the past, I’d always either go to Teddy’s Bigger Burgers or Kua’aina Burgers. But since there was a Groupon for the Honolulu Burger Company where I’d be saving at least 50%, I figured mind as well try it out. I went to the Beretania location, which had minimum parking because there lot is a little small. But luckily, I went at night so street parking was available. My girlfriend and I ordered the Blue Hawaii and the Mushroom Mushroom burger (yes, that’s mushroom times two). The burgers looked slightly smaller than what I’d get at Teddy’s and Kua’aina’s, but the pricing was slightly cheaper (if I paid the regular price and not use the Groupon). The burger itself was alright. The patty was juice and tasty, but I feel the sauce was lacking. My girlfriend and I ended up adding a lot of ketchup to make up for the lack of sauce. In conclusion, I probably won’t come back again unless there’s another Groupon. But hey, don’t take it from me, and be sure to try the place out if you’re craving for a burger in Hawaii.

Pad Thai and Green Curry
Stop by Bangkok Chef for delicious and inexpensive Thai food. Because I live nearby, I usually call in for a take-out. However, sometimes if I’m meeting my friend for lunch then we’ll just eat there. I usually like to call in because sometimes there’s a lot of people the wait takes forever. I’ve tried almost everything on their menu, but in the end, I think their Pad Thai and curry (although on the right is a picture of their Green curry, their other curry such as red and yellow curry, is all good) is the best. Also, I always get a Thai Ice Tea with my food. I think they have one of the best Thai Ice Teas on the island.
Also, if you want to be healthy, you can substitute your white rice for brown rice for an extra charge of course. Below is Bangkok Chef’s details for their Nuuanu location.
