Hayashiya in Ikebukuro is a popular izakaya that specializes in yakitori and pork. This location has a 1st and 2nd floor and is located in an apartment building. That’s probably why one night when I went, there were some rowdy girls who were asked to keep the noise down by the workers. But hey, it’s an izakaya. Izakayas are supposed to be loud and rowdy! Reservations are recommended.
This izakaya is more for the adventurous because they also serve pork sashimi or raw pork such as liver. If you’re more of a chicken person, they also have gizzards. However, if you’re only down for cooked stuff, then definitely try their bacon. Don’t get me wrong though, this is not just any bacon. This is the best bacon you’ll ever have. Furthermore, this place does not have any English whatsoever. So either you study some Japanese or find a Japanese speaking friend to go with you. That or you can find pictures of what you want online and just show it to them when ordering. That’s what I did.
Other than yakitori and pork, there’s also other foods and snacks cheese balls, french fries, soy beans, and more. As for drinks, they have your typical drinks that you’ll find at an izakaya.
